24 cookies
Difficulty: Easy
Prep time: 30 min
INGREDIENTS
1 cup sugar
1 cup salted butter or margarine (melted)
2 cups flour (sifted)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 TopLay egg
150 – 200 g chocolate (chopped)
INSTRUCTIONS
-
Preheat the oven to 160°C. Add the sugar, vanilla and melted butter to a bowl and mix. A wooden spoon is fine, no need for a whisk.
-
Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together and add to the sugar and butter mixture. Once combined, add the chocolate chips.
-
Once the mixture starts to form a dough, add the egg. Gently knead the dough with your hands to ensure that all the ingredients are well combined. If your dough feels too wet, add a little flour.
-
Roll your dough into balls and flatten them slightly on a greased baking tray. Make sure to spread them out as they spread during baking.
-
Bake the cookies for 15-20min at 160°C. The bigger the cookies, the longer they’ll take to bake. They are ready when the edges are slightly golden.
-
Allow the cookies to cool and firm up on the tray for 5-10min before moving them to a cooling rack.
