Ingredients
For the Brownies
- Vegetable spray
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) corn syrup
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) butter or margarine
- 5 squares semi-sweet chocolate
- 3/4 cup (175 ml) sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla essence
- 1 cup (250 ml) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (250 ml) chopped walnuts
- 1 square white chocolate, melted, for garnish
For the Chocolate Glaze
- 3 squares semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) butter or margarine
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) corn syrup
- 1 tsp (5 ml) milk
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180°C. Spray a 20 cm square pan with vegetable spray. In a large saucepan, bring corn syrup and butter to a boil, stirring occasionally; remove from heat.
Step 2
Add semi-sweet chocolate; stir until melted. Add sugar. Stir in eggs, one at a time, then vanilla, flour and nuts. Pour into pan.
Step 3
Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool completely on rack.
Step 4
Prepare glaze; spread on top of brownies. To Make Chocolate Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt semi-sweet chocolate with butter or margarine over low heat, stirring often. Remove from heat. Stir in corn syrup and milk.
Step 5
Drizzle with white or dark chocolate. Let stand until set. Cut into squares.
