No Bake Milk Tart

Whip up this easy no bake milk tart in no time! This sweet and creamy traditional South African dessert is sure to become a household favourite!

Ingredients

For the crust

  • 1 Packet Tennis biscuits
  • 120 g Salted butter Melted
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon

For the filling

  • 42 g Cake flour
  • 42 g Cornstarch
  • 1 125 ml Milk
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp Salted butter
  • Cinnamon for dusting

Instructions

For the crust

  • Crush the tennis biscuits until they form crumbs, combine with cinnamon and melted butter to form a crumble. 
  • Spread the biscuit mixture over the bottom and up the sides of the dish, firmly pressing down. Place the crust in the fridge to harden. 

For the filling

  • Whisk together 125ml milk, the eggs and vanilla essence.
  • Mix the wet ingredients together with the flour, cornstarch and sugar.
  • Bring the rest of the milk and butter to a boil over a medium heat.
  • Remove the milk from the heat and add some of the hot milk to the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
  • Over a medium heat, add the egg mixture to the milk and continue whisking until thick.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared crust and dust with cinnamon.
